We announce that Alfamation has officially become a Contributor Member of the OpenGMSL Association, bringing its Flexmedia XM products into an open standard ecosystem shaping the future of in‑vehicle video connectivity.

What Is OpenGMSL?

The OpenGMSL Association is an industry‑driven initiative established to define and promote a truly open standard for high‑speed video and data transmission in automotive and adjacent markets. The standard enables interoperability across multiple vendors, accelerates innovation, and reduces development complexity for next‑generation connected systems.

At its core, OpenGMSL is built on Gigabit Multimedia Serial Link (GMSL) technology — a high‑speed SerDes communication solution engineered for demanding automotive applications. Originally developed as a proprietary technology and now standardized through the association, GMSL enables robust and low‑latency transmission of uncompressed video, sensor data, control signals alongside with power over a single cable.
